      Hi,

I have started a new panel for the Korg DS-8. It’s now in a one-way-only working state (It can send parameter changes from the panel to the synth via MIDI)

Are there any Korg DS-8 owners in this forum interested in beta-testing?
Also Korg 707 owners are welcome to react. A Korg 707 panel will follow as a spinoff from this project, because these two synths have an almost identical soundengine and SysEx implementation.

Here is a preview of my Korg DS-8 panel. One-way Parameter changes are working.
Studying LUA api now to enable MIDI bulkdump to/from DS-8.

          HI

I am interested! Great idea. DS-8 is a great sounding synth that deserves to have a proper too to access its inherent potential. I can do some testing if you want. The panel looks nice and well laid out. Keep it up.

The current version now supports getting and putting the singlevoice patchdata as a dump to/from the DS8. The SAVE and LOAD buttons are next on my TODO list.

Getting the patchdata sometimes doesn’t seem to work 100% reliable. Selecting a program on your DS8 makes it send the SysEx dump also. Sometimes this gives a better result than clicking on the “GET” button in my panel.

I have attached the current version. Use at your own risk 🙂
Your DS8 has to have SysEx enabled, and be put in Single Program mode.

If anyone can give me a hint how to make receiving the bulkdump can be made more solid, please let me know.

Here is my next version of the Korg DS-8 panel for testing:
              – supports sending/receiving bulk dump of current voice to/from MIDI
              – supports saving/loading sysex file to/from disk
              – uses a font called “LCDdot regular” to display the voicename. Included in the panels resources.

I think LCDdot would be a good addition to the standard Ctrlr fonts. It’s a bit similar to “Electronic Highway sign” but supports both lower- and uppercase characters.

Next version; next Year. Happy New Year!!

My DS-8 panel is almost in a state that I find worth uploading to the “Panels” section.
NEW: I have also created a Korg 707 panel with very similar looks and functionality. Looking for beta-testers, since I don’t own a 707 now. (I owned one in the past, so I do know this toy)
                  To be continued …

Great, another Korg DS-8 owner! 🙂

                          When posting bugreports:
                          1. please download and test latest released version of the panel from the download section (currently: 20150115). Several bus have been fixed since 20150101). BTW: I am working on a newer version with save/load/put/get support for the 100-voice banks.

                          2. Please download and test latest version of Ctrlr from the download section (currently: 5.3.85)

                          3. If you are using “older” version, please specify which version

                          4. If it “doesn’t work”, please specify what exactly doesn’t work, what error messages do you see? If you know how to use a terminal and commandline: Try to start Ctrlr from a commandline and redirect (error)messages to a textfile.

Good bugreports can be a tremendous help to fix bugs and improve panels and/or Ctrlr.

Thank you for your work, m.tarenskeen!
I can’t download 20150115 version – it downloads version for 707. For me ctrlr 1590 works well with panels that i use.

                              Hi,

Thanks for reporting the wrong file in the download section!
I uploaded the latest and greatest version 20150223b.

I have started some nice bankmanager support. Not completely functional yet though.
