midiReceived function not working?

I started developing a new panel and as a start I have defined the method midiReceived what I always do for all my panels and has always worked OK. In the MIDI monitor the data I want to process do show up, but the method is not activated or, in other words, no incoming midi data in this method. This puzzles me because it has always worked! I’m on a Mac with El Capitan and using version 5.3.122. (Newer versions shave the problem of not displaying a background image, AFAIK…) Any ideas someone?

Solved! I think my skills have become a bit rusty. I forgot to call the function on the panel level, where you can call functions related to the various events like when the panel receives a midi message or when the panel has finished loading. So far things are OK now. (But still have to use version 5.3.122 for Mac, because higher versions refuse to display image resources…)
