      Hello

I’m trying to set up a touch optimized control panel to control ableton effects on my microsoft surface touchscreen. However I am stuck because I cant get any midi signal out of the ctrlr vst.

      What I did so far:
      – installed ctrlr
      – installed loopmidi
      – made a draft of the panel
      – track, sync and remote of input and output in ableton disabled
      – smile at controller device and output device
      – output to plugin host activated

      I probably forgot something trivial.
      Any Input is appreciated.

      Thanks in advance

Can’t help you a lot as I never did a VST panel (but will be very soon 🙂 )…
So, my only tip is: is your panel working with your control surface with Ctrlr standalone?

          Thanks for the advice
I see midi input and output signals when I move a modulator in the standalone.

If I open the VST plugin I don’t see a midi signal neither in the ctrlr/midi monitor nor in ableton.

Ok I got the standalone now communicating with ableton by setting the midi settings correctly.

The vst still does not work, but the workaround is good enough for the moment.

              https://www.ableton.com/de/help/article/vst-plugin-midi-output/
              Tutorial

Live tracks containing VST instrument plug-ins provide a MIDI input but an audio output. Therefore it’s not possible to record the MIDI output of a plug-in in this track directly. This is possible via track routing.

Load a VST plug-in into a MIDI track.
              Create another MIDI track.
In the Input Type chooser (“MIDI From”) of the created track, select the track containing the VST plug-in.
In the (lower) Input Channel chooser, select the VST plug-in.
In case you want to route the MIDI signal back into the plug-in, do the following (this can be used for example to record the MIDI ouput of Native Instruments Maschine):

In the Output Type chooser (“MIDI To”), again select the track containing the VST plug-in.
In the (lower) Output Channel chooser, select the appropriate plug-in MIDI channel.
Use this MIDI track to record the MIDI output of the plug-in.
Create more MIDI tracks to send MIDI data to different MIDI channels

Thanks. I tried that already but there is still no midi signal coming out of the plugin. It should probably be visible in the ctrlr/midi monitor before I can route it somewhere else.
