The main reason for not being able to select things is generally overlapping modulators.

What you can do is select them in the modulator list and then type in new values in the size/position box (Sorry can’t remember the name of the specific field but it has a format like 10 20 200 300. The first numbers are the position of the top left and the other 2 define the size.

Another option is to temporarily hide the modulators that are in the way using the setVisible property.

Select it in the Modulator list. In the General Tab on the right go down to ComponentRectangle (it’s under the Component generic heading.

This control will have 4 numbers eg
                568 216 88 32

The first is the X Position, the second the Y Position, the third the X Size, the 4th the Y size.

Change these and press enter and the component will move/resize.

Also, locking things can make them difficult to select, so don’t lock stuff till you are positive you don’t need to move it anymore.

My best guess would be that it is on a different layer to the tab.

the problem is not a problem of overlapping..
see this panel, only one tab… impossible to select

That’s because you have layers over the layer where is the tab.

You have to hide the top layers to select modulators from a layer that is behind. It’s annoying but this is how layers works.

PD: This is to select mods with the mouse. You can always have the modulator list window opened to select modulators from there, so there’s no need to hide and show layers.

for me it’s impossible to use… sorry
i understand how it works but putting object into tab is impossible and when work is question of luck… layer is a problem, in other program like inkscape, when i click on an object, is selected even if belong to another layer…
… I really want to learn to use CTRLR … but tell me how to solve these problems. for now I have only worked with the tab (without controls, midi etc ..) and I found it very difficult.

sorry for the outburst, but time is short and I want to be productive

yes but if i want to resize or move, i have to hide other layer.. and if the layer to hide is a point of reference.. i lost my reference.

When you have multiple layers you are working on the highest visible layer (the one closest to the bottom of the Layer List).

To add components to a tab this is what I do.

Make sure you have some screen area around the tab.
Make sure you have your tab selected and visible for the tab where you want to put the component. For example make sure Tab 1 is selected if you want to put a controller there.

Next right click in the blank area around the tab. In your panel, lets put it at the bottom.
Next, select the new component and drag it into the tab (you must be on the same layer as the tab – just hide the higher layers.) The component is now in the tab.

If you want a template to work with, use a background image in the tab.
