this is great because it will also control my JV880 with some minor tweaks!
Edit: Minor enhancements, custom knobs and colors.

          Dear all,

I just joined the forum and want to start with a big thank you for all of your work. I found it very hard to access the parameters of my Roland M-VS1 and am quite happy to have found this site and the M-VS1 panel. There is one question I would have: I am running control on a macbook pro, 2010 model, osx 10.7.5. Control works great with the M-VS1 panel. However, my mouse pointer becomes invisible as I am manipulating the faders (which works). So it is a bit of guesswork to find out where the mouse pointer actually is.

Is that something anybody else has encountered? Is there a way to fix it? Thank yu and best, Martin

Put your panel in edit mode (option e), activate the “offending” fader (it will show a orange rectangle) and look for the property ‘Mouse cursor’. Set it to ‘normal’. You have to do this for all the faders/modulators etc. 😉

Got it – thank you so much for your support. If I may, some more questions.

I would like to add e.g. a fader for resonance. Can I check somewhere what the faders are sending as sysex message so I could copy that and include the relevant address for, in this example, resonance?

              All best, M

use midi monitor window (option m). you have the choice of monitoring incoming and outgoing midi messages .

Thank you, again, for your kind reply! Are you the person who did this panel?

                    Hello again,

so, finally my gear is at one place and I tried to control my Roland M-VS1 with Control and the M-VS Panel. M-VS1’s in/out are connected using an emagic amt8 midi interface. NRPN switch on the M-VS1 is on. Device ID’s are matching. Ctrl’s Midi Monitor shows activity, AMT8’s USB activity light is flashing when I move the faders in the control panel.

However, the only command the M-VS1 accepts are program changes, nothing else. Any idea what might be the reason for that?

Thank you for your help and best,

                    Martin

No one?I really can’t figure out why my M-VS1 accept the programme changes but does not react to the sysex when the Midi Channels and IDs match? Help!

Post a link to a manual that describes the midi specs for the device and show us what data gets transmitted from ctrlr. Ill try to find the issue.

                          Hi Atom,

thank you for looking into this. Here

is the manual for all of the Roland Sound Expansion series which share a lot of communalities.

It looks like one of those too complicated midi implementations (no need for that but people at Roland are krazy).

Anyway, have you set the correct checksums for the messages, from the manual it clearly says you need to have a checksum in a message. You can try setting it to 00 some devices will accept that.

sounds like either the mvs-1 or the midi interface are set to ignore sysex. does other hardware respond to sysex over the interface? try sending a dump request to the mvs-1 with a sysex utility to rule out ctrlr.

Is there any way to modify this for the M-DC1? I have no clue what I’m doing 🙁
