      Hi it’s me again.

If I want to create controls that send SysEx to my Roland TB-3 & monitor MIDI every now & then to test if it’s working, would I set MIDI Input AND Output to my TB-3 ??

I only ask this because when I send an Identity Request SysEx to my TB-3, the MIDI Monitor shows the Identity Reply in both my MIDI Input AND Output. Shouldn’t I only see the Identity Reply in my Input only ??

      My Output = [f0 7e 10 06 01 f7]
      [f0 7e 10 06 02 41 7b 02 00 00 00 03 01 00 f7]

      My Input = [f0 7e 10 06 02 41 7b 02 00 00 00 03 01 00 f7]

I know what it all means but why is the long Identity Reply message also in my Output ??
Also in my MIDI tab of Ctrlr where I set the inputs/outputs what is the “Controller” in the middle do? The SysEx messages are working wether I set it to None or any of my MIDI devices.

      Sorry for silly questions,
      Ash.

Input in Output: maybe you have enabled Midi-thru? Otherwise this should not happen.

Controller is for a hardwarecontroller such as a midi keyboard. But you don’t need this if you have a DAW running which will handle all midi devices.

          Hi.

Aha! Ok thanks Possemo! It wasn’t MIDI Thru but I had the MIDI Controller also set to my TB-3, when I change the Controller to None all is good no Identity Reply in my Midi Output monitor.

          Cheers,
          Ash.
