I haven’t searched the forums or anything, but are you planning to add touch screen to your raspberry pi? It would be nice to have this compact unit that could be used to run ctrlr on it. Then again I cannot say how useful that would be considering the screen sizes, but still it could be nice. And this idea could be TEH justification to get raspberry pi 3 that I have been looking for =)

Can’t really help I havent turned on my laptop for a long time not to mention looked at the Ctrlr code or trying to compile it. But when it crashes click the report button or what ever it was called but do not send the error report to apple instead copy the crash report text (stack trace) and maybe that could lead somewhere. I think Ctrlr doesn’t work with snow leopard anymore or at least it did not work when I tried it some time ago.

Nice to hear that you are planning to start doing a new one. This is something from the book The Mythical Man-Month it states that when doing software you should plan for a throw away version, the first version that you ever do which is kind of what you are doing and what I have come across in my personal plug-in project for Reaper. But for all of those throw aways and unfinished panels how about if there were some dumpster for them? Place where you could leave them and people should be aware by the context where they are available that they are what they are, no guarantees, only there to some one to pick a project up or to learn from.

From those choices the third one sounds best. The first one is good if you want to save the patch for later access, good for playing around with sounds.
The second choice is also very good because for some the workflow would contain the patches in the project file. You know when you are working on a track you can just open it and you get all the sounds from that.
So giving the option to choose from one from the other would be eventually most ideal in my opinion. But starting out with the first option, to get something saved, is better than not really working version of the two.
I think this idea taken from API design also applies here: It is easier to add something later than to remove something.
So do one version first and forget about the other options. Add other options when you have the time.

I too am interested in this panel. How about sharing the panel if it already has something working? As a word of advice if you hold the panel to your self and release it when it is 100% perfect then the risk of it ending up on some dark corner of your hdd forever. The community might help you do the things that are still missing. This is just my personal thought and I do the same thing. I am working on v-amp2 panel, but only have one MIDI cable at home so I haven’t been able to continue it although it is able to communicate with the device. Maybe I will share it soon unfinished, the functionality is the most important part of the panel the layout comes in second. Having functional panel with a layout that doesn’t satisfy everybody is better than having no panel at all. And because this application is flexible people that has issues with the layouts can change them to their liking.
Sorry for the outburst, but it seems that I have those when the issue is even loosely related to some other issues =)

I had the currently latests OS X builder, 5.2.139, crash.

              Preconditions:
The application starts fine and existing panel loads. Everything seem to be in order

              Reproduce:
              1. Add new uiImage, get added nicely
              2. Select the modulator

              Postconditions:
              The application crashes.

I added the crash report/stack trace. I took a very quick look and at least there seem to be something in panel and the problem probably comes from JUCE, but cannot be sure. I have silicon my right eye so I cant see nothing clearly with it so that contributed to my overwhelming laziness I did not bother to look at the crash report in detail.

Ps. thanks for adding 10.6 as the base SDK in the builds.

Thanks for the fast reply. I’ll try using the zipped boost when I have the time. I was able to compile without boost related issues (at least it seemed so) after including installed boost include directory, but I then I started to get some std issues. I am on summer vacation and going to my parents house soon so I have to look at it when we get back. If the code does not use C++11 features then it might be at least theoretically possible to compile it with Xcode 3, I hope.
I did “sacrifice” my laptop and installed Mavericks so that is my next weapon of choice.

Just a quick off-topic though in Java we can test if class is instance of some type, for example interface or type interface to be exact. If there is some nice way to do that it could be handy in the mutator. To be clear I haven’t too much looked into the program or the for that matter, but I thought that some modulators that are subject to random value could extends some nice interface. Then the mutator class could query all modulators in the panel, check if they are randomizable modulators and do the trick. Though this might be useless this idea is based on the assumption that buttons are modulators too and if the button is not toggle, but push button then it would not need any randomized value. I came to this assumption while I am learning the app by creating panel for V-Amp2 which will have button for tap tempo. I did not find push button, but though that button with only one value/option is basically the same thing. No thats enough rambling I just wanted to say that aloud.

At the time of writing the list is missing Virus A my latest synth from ebay. Reaper is used for the recording and composing (and mixing when we get songs and studio acoustic done) and LE I sometimes use for the garage bands piano.
