      Hi,
I’d like to have complementary information on the MIDI Controller setting in the MIDI menu.
There is some explanation in an old post from 2013: http://ctrlr.org/forums/topic/midi-device-settings-controllerin-device/

      So my questions:

      • What is the purpose of Midi Controller?
      • when using Ctrlr in standalone mode with a single synth and no midi controller keyboard, what should be the setting of Midi Controller? Same as Midi Input or Channel 0 or…?
      • How should this work and be used when you have at the same time a midi controller and a synth in rack connected by USB to the PC? What is the preferred setup?
      • How should this work and be used when you have a DAW (Ableton for example), a midi controller keyboard and 1 synth. Ctrlr used in plugin mode

Probably other cases but let’s start by this… 🙂
      Thx!

        I agree it’s very confusing!

Also, as far as I can tell, in standalone the only midi channel that works for me is channel 1, which means I have change any any synth I want to work with to that channel 🙁

In device -> Out device [ticked] and Change MIDI Channel [ticked]

Seems the routing is broken (OSX 5.3.198)

        cheers

          my 2 cents?
For the most part as far as my experience best practice is to only use controller in when using stand-alone for connecting a (you guessed it!) MIDI controller in case you don’t want to just use the gui.

All other cases you generally want the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT devices pointed to and from the synth you’re controlling. Unless doing something really bizarre there should be no reason to use the controller in device when using ctrlr as a VST/AU in a DAW.

Have you noticed the channel not remapping at all?

            cheers
