Here’s what I can’t figure out………….. Where is the manual??? Don’t seem to be able to find any useful or useable documentation for CTRLR.
Now either I’m being thick here and just not figuring out where it is… OR… Worse than that, It doesn’t exist at all. If that’s the case, could somebody please explain to me, exactly what use a piece of software that doesn’t even begin to tell you how to use it is? It doesn’t even appear have a help menu inside it.
I have to say that as a programer in a couple of different languages, I ought to be able to figure out what I’m supposed to do with a piece of software to get it to function. As this is clearly an application programming interface, that it would seem, compiles working stand alone synth editors when it’s given enough information, that makes it a very useful tool. Something that I would certainly be happy to try and make use of with my synths. BUT! and here’s where it falls over, If it doesn’t even include basic getting started documentation it falls back into the "not much use to me" catagory.
I’m not unwilling to spend a lot of time learning a new tool…. but it’s a bloody huge uphill and very frustrating slog, to get anything useful out of a piece of software that is this sophisticated and deep, without any formal and clear documentation.
So if somebody knows where I might actually find the getting started manual for this…. then please illuminate me.

August 8, 2011 at 2:44 am #3097AWWW come on fozzy, half the fun of using CTRLR is trying to figure out how to use it!!!!
use the force young Jedi!August 8, 2011 at 2:13 pm #3098Fair enough!! Thanks Atom… I appreciate that you’re too busy creating the software. I know how difficult that is. You maybe need to hook up with a good Technical Writer and get then to create the manual for you.
@ Layzer2: Yes, you’re absolutely right, that it’s just another big adventure to go on!! ” title=”Very Happy” />

Julian (Fozzy The Bear)August 8, 2011 at 2:34 pm #3099this is something i have to do myself and i will, i just need to reach a certain level of stability in my code, and it simply didn’t happen yet.
August 9, 2011 at 5:09 pm #3100i think the biggest mystery for new users is how to manipulate the hex code in the midi messages using the xx variable.
then learning the fixed expressions in the value boxes also the system K0 – KF variables. one can achieve alot
just knowing those things. perhaps a quick start guide describing usage of those things included in the zip file would
help many newbs.January 29, 2012 at 7:40 pm #3101i learnt about sysex using an atari and cubase mixer maps. you had a choice of
object types, and a definition dialog where the sysex string was entered. i’m
hoping this is going to be relatively similar, but it doesn’t look that simple.
i even managed to ‘hack’ into the midiverbII which only has a 2seg display and
get it to send back its format which i recorded into the list editor, after which
i guessed the parameter numbers whilst jiggling the fader object and working
my way through parameter LSBs. it worked, and i had a fully automate-able mverbII.January 31, 2012 at 11:15 pm #3102i just started looking at this program.
i am very excited about iti think it would help alot with people that are starting out to have just a short tutorial video
because there seems to be not time to make a manual,
but a short tutorial video would just take minutes to make.
it could be very rough and just about the main thingsi think it would help people to get into it much faster.
thanks
