I got a problem between Native Intruments "Maschine" and CTRLR.When i want to send Midi-Notes (from "Maschine") and CC Messages (from CTRLR),then i have a Problem with the Midi-Ports.I can´t choose the same Port at Machine AND CTRLR at the same time…so i have to decide for one of them (Ports).Maybe there another way to use "Maschine" and CTRLR which don´t takes the same Midi-Port,so i can control both (Midi-Note AND CC) at the same time and Port ( for controling my Moog )?
Best Regards!

well if you are on windows it’s the usual "windows does not allow two applications using the same midi port" problem, and there is no solution i’m afraid. you can try receiving midi from the VST host (a option in each panel) and enabling midi thru this should pass all midi events Ctrlr receives from your host to the hardware port the panel is using, and also send CC/SysEx or whatever on the same output port.

Oh…i forgot…
I´m using Windows 7 64 Bit…
CTRLR on its self is great (and it´s one Reason for me to go BACK to Software!!!),but it´s important for me,to control the rest of my Hardware…
Best whishes…

figured out a little work around in ableton

go into midi preferences and click the little arrow to the left of the port you want to use

in the drop down menu, click the port type button once so it changes

ctrlr should now be able to use this port. it’s great if you want to use the external instrument, i usually group one of those with the ctrlr plugin so it’s all on one track

not sure if this was obvious or w/e but it’s been handy for me

cheers

Hi Atom!
Your Workarround works very well, but I´m standing before another Problem. When I want to send Midi-Notes to different Midi-Channels (multitimbral),CTRLR just sends the Midi-Notes only on Midi-Channel 1,though I set in CTRLR the Output-Channel for example to Midi-Channel 2.
Is it possible to send Midi-Notes to different Midi-Channels while using the same Midi-Port?

what is the source of midi notes ? a component in ctrlr or midi notes from the VST host ?

Hi!
Thanks for the quick response!I was very busy, thats why I´m reacting so late. The Midi-Notes are coming from the Host (Maschine/NI).

you should set the midi channel in the host to the channel you want, ctrlr does not process the MIDI THRU messages.
