I need to count the incoming bytes while they come in.

My device (Akai S700) sends a shot of 19 bytes. (not ending with EOX / 0xF7)
Then I need to send a 4 byte acknowledge sysex message (handshake) to the S700.
If this does not happen, The device will send an EOX and terminating the sending of further sysex messages (sample data).

What I’m doing now is shooting randomly (based on a timer) the 4 byte acknowledge sysex messages to the Akai. But I’ve noticed that the total amount of sysex bytes is not the same when I repeatedly ask for a sample.

      Please anyone?
