think the RX7 can receive sysex, so i made a start on
a UI for it. trying to get one set of modulators work
for all 120 instances of a drumpad definition. don’t
know yet if this is viable, but it’s what i want to
try first.skip to most recent post and panel version>>

March 11, 2018 at 10:27 pm #82849I cannot help you a lot on this as one would first have to check the sysex implementation thouroughly. Sysex documentation is found on the service manual of the rx7 which is hard to read due to the low contrast of the scans. I did cut down the service manual to the sysex part, raised the contrast and OCR’ed it to be able do text search. I think this may be useful to study the relatively complex sysex implementation. To me, an useful thing would be the editing of voice parameters.
linkMarch 11, 2018 at 10:48 pm #82850Checking the screenshots of the Soundquest editor may be interesting. The interface is as ugly as it gets but you can see the editable parameters.
You can see that there are two midi modes. One spreads all voices on the keyboard and You can edit for each of the 100 voices at which note it should play. This way you can trigger more than one voice per note. The other mode assigns a voice on each midi channel. It will then play one voice spread across the whole keyboard.
It’s probably possible to switch mode by sysex messages.https://www.squest.com/Products/MidiQuest11/Instruments/YamahaRX7/index.html
