i’ve never really gotten ctrlr to work at all .. some guys over at the waldorf list have prompted me to ask around as i am very interested in this project from the early days when ctrlr was premade editors

i have blofeld on a 2010 i-mac 21.5" 3 ghz osx 10.6.8 not one mac build has worked… downloaded the most current one last night and still does not work as vst or stand alone .. i got the keyboard pitch and mod wheels to work + program change one one of the earlier blofeld dedicated builds but not much else..

i open stand alone, open the blofeld panel select blofeld in and out, nothing! no midi gets sent as the activity light doesn’t light up and the blofeld doesn’t react to anything..i throw midi monitor in line and no data is being sent from the editor.. as a VSTi in cubase and ableton i know the blofeld works but the editor does not send any info.. it’s receiving info ( or trying) the vst i window indicates that there is midi coming in ..

i’ve tried heaps of different options on blofeld like id numbers midi channels sysex only cc’s only cc’s plus sysex no banana.
i select every different combo of i/o ports on the panel to no avail it just wont work on my system … so i took my blofeld to my other macs a 2008 24" imac and a 2006 macbook still no dice with exactly the same non communication..
is there anyone successfully using ctrlr on 10.6 ? maybe it’s just not compatable with snow leopard? maybe it doesn’t like midi over usb, the only thing i haven’t tried is using 5 pin din ..

      any ideas?

it’s compatible, if you can run it it has to work.

First thing i’d try is to create a new panel, add a single slider make it a CC number whatever (say 4) set the output device to whatever your midi device is (global preferences), then set the device as the output for your new panel (panel properties on the right "MIDI Output Device"), set the panel MIDI channel "MIDI Output channel", exit the Edit Mode, and tweak the knob. At this point your CC number 4 should be going out on your MIDI device on MIDI Channel that you set. The same rule applies to all panels. If that still doesn’t work, try using those IAC internal MIDI devices that OSX has (add a new pair of I/O ports and re-open Ctrlr). You can attach some kind of MIDI monitor on the other end of the IAC bus.

If all that fails, give us a shout, if you can a screenshot of your options and your panel properties might be useful.

            welcome hps!
For the record ctrlr does work in snow leo.. The way I worded it on the waldorf user list might have been confusing. ctrlr works in both 10.6 (snow leo) and 10.5.x (leopoard), provided it’s an intel mac and not a ppc. … Since apple broke the finder in pretty much everything after 10.5.7 (especially when working with SAN volumes, which is problematic in my setup) I have my intel mac still on 10.5.7.

If you haven’t already tried hooking up a 5pin din to your midi interface to connect your blofeld to your system I would try that. Filch can also probably help you get his panel working if you continue to have issues. It’d be interesting to track down exactly what the problem is with getting ctrlr working in your setup, hps.

              ok…..some progress

latest standalone blank ctrlr works… i make a knob send it to a cc on the blofeld and it works …YAY !!! VST i cannot get to work in cubase or ableton

however the blofeld panel by filch will not work in either stand alone or VST

                Hello,

I had the same problem but I solved it with Midipipe.

"[i:2loc4j0q]filchBlofeld v1_94.bpanelz[/i:2loc4j0q]" xml specify "[i:2loc4j0q]Walforf Blofeld[/i:2loc4j0q]" as MIDI OUT and MIDI IN but "Devices" dialog proposes different syntaxes : "[i:2loc4j0q]Waldorf Blofeld – in[/i:2loc4j0q]" and "[i:2loc4j0q]Waldorf Blofeld – out[/i:2loc4j0q]"

The solution is using Midipipe to create 2 pipes :
                – "waldorfCTRLRout" : "Midi In" tool > create new virtual IN named "[i:2loc4j0q]Waldorf Blofeld[/i:2loc4j0q]" / "Midi Out" tool > select "[i:2loc4j0q]Waldorf Blofeld – out[/i:2loc4j0q]"
                – "waldorfCTRLRin" : "Midi In" tool > select "[i:2loc4j0q]Waldorf Blofeld – in[/i:2loc4j0q]" / "Midi Out" tool > create new virtual OUT named "[i:2loc4j0q]Waldorf Blofeld[/i:2loc4j0q]"

Save as a Midipipe file. Open it before using "[i:2loc4j0q]filchBlofeld v1_94.bpanelz[/i:2loc4j0q]" in CTRLR.
                Enjoy.
