This is something i wanted to do since the beginning but never made anything useful, right now i’m doing like a 10th attempt to do this. But i was wondering how you see it.
One UI/skin for all Ctrlrs that get created, something simple and fast, no bitmaps (they take too much cpu time to render and debugging a ctrlr like tera is a pain in the ass, it loads about 3 minutes in debug mode).
One more thing is to add an option(s) to customize your UI, place your elements, give them a look (stichted images for sliders and toggle buttons, colours for texts and combos) but as an option. Having something default would speed up developing new stuff. I’m doing something that looks similar to the Apple Aqua interface, but it’s ME doing that, so you can imagine that it wont be something really nice. It’s hard to make those decisions since i use that software only sometimes and it doesnt really bother me, though a discussion about it would maybe help, maybe on IRC maybe here.i hope to hear from you on this.
August 11, 2010 at 11:47 pm #1829I think that is a great idea. For me this is more about functionality if its working i dont particularity care how it looks the fact that i can edit my alpha juno that has no knobs on my computer is a god send to be honest its been turned on more in the last two months then the whole time since iv bought it because i found these editors. Plus if its going to make it easier for you and you may be able to respond to peoples request its gotta be a good thing?
August 13, 2010 at 9:50 pm #1830i’ve uploaded a screen of a default look and feel it’s in the screens sections (it’s for a Yamaha AN1x ctrlr i’m doing now).
August 14, 2010 at 12:43 am #1831Yeah I think that is a great idea!
PLUS an AN1x ctrlr for my MAC would be AWESOME ” title=”Smile” />
August 17, 2010 at 11:10 am #1832Is it possible to work out a kind of skinn thing.. That al the components are variable depending on what skinn you choose. I would like it for example that al ctrlrs I use, have the Ableton Live look ‘n feel.. Is that possible?
August 17, 2010 at 11:20 am #1833Well yes and no
yes:
– a look and feel can be changed while the plugin is running that’s not a problemno:
– a ableton (and other) look and feel has to be createdif you make a ableton like look and feel i can add it to the Ctrlr engine and make it a choice of look and feels for every Ctrlr.
August 17, 2010 at 11:32 am #1834I am not a very good designer, but if there is someone else who can make this, i think it would be cool..
I have lots of ideas though ” title=”Razz” />
September 12, 2010 at 12:40 am #1835Hi there peeps
I’m more than willing to design an Ableton-esque default template for the CTRL’s if you like…

September 12, 2010 at 12:57 am #1836Look and Feel are classes in JUCE, so creating a new l&f means writing some code. It’s possible to create a tool for designing look and feels but this is not something i’ll be doing in this project. However, if someone can draw one knob/slider toggle button and a combo in some large format i can look at (gimp source file would be nice), i can try to translate it to code, such look and feel would be faster and more precise, then just drawing some stitched frames in knobman or some other utility.
September 12, 2010 at 1:17 am #1837Hi Atom
Would PNG files by OK..? I’m assuming that you would need alpha transparency :” title=”Question” /> Would you prefer vector or bitmaps :” title=”Question” />
