I would like to be able to use custom graphics for a dial, but in "Fixed" mode.

Alternatively, if someone could tell me how I could use a custom image dial that would have ascii text in the display, rather than numeric values. I can do this fine in FixedSlider, thus my request…

Nice, I’m using FixedSliders very often – when an ImageFixedSlider is available I’ll try to create some knobs on my own. Though I’ve read that the image stuff needs CPU (and RAM?) performance… I’ll try it out.

well not that much in v4 all panels were done using this technique and i promise that you want notice the changes between normal and image sliders (yes it needs more cpu and more ram but theese are fraction of percent of the cpu and the amount of RAM is exactly the size of the image you use since the same image is shared over all knobs)

OK, this sounds promising! Will try knobman soon.

Knobman is a phenomenal app, been using it for some time now together with Max/MSP. You won’t be disappointed!

well you don’t need to use knobman i saw people do their knobs and sliders in Photoshop or GIMP (i prefer GIMP) and then just using some nifty macros, animate the movement of the knob 360degrees, and write each frame of the animation as a new image and either stitch it manually or use some utility (i just googled this and saw a lot of apps for doing that, apparently panoramic images come in frames and you need to stitch them later on). And that will do, it just has to be any amount of same size images stitched together, hell you can have 100 images of your left testicle rotating and it will work (if someone has the patience to take 100 pictures of his balls).

Sure. But this is also why I think this new version of ctrlr will be a blockbuster; it *simplifies* doing all this stuff, just as Knobman did for the graphical knob/slider UI world.

Knobman is great and much more complex than I thought! Will (or already is) it possible in Ctrlr to use also image faders ("linearVertical")?

Hm, this doesn’t seem to work in my case. I’ve created a knob with knobman (140 KB, 64 pics) which is the only source for all the ImageSliders in my pannel. One single panel needs 130 MB RAM and 4 panels need about 500 MB of the RAM..?

i’ll check into that maybe i’m creating copies for each one, but this should be shared, i’ll have a look.
