I would like to buy a novation nova desktop, see here:

      http://www.vintagesynth.com/novation/nova.php

Is there a panel for this synth available for Ctrlr?
I found an old version for Supernova 2, is it compatible and how to run this old panel?

      I am using OSX 10.6.8.

      Thanks.

I’ve just got my Nova through the post and I’ve been looking for a Nova librarian/preset vst too <img decoding=” title=”Smile” />

Have you got a link to the SNII panel pls?

Reading through the OS4.1 upgrade manual atm and it says if you are running that OS version the Nova excepts SNII patches and converts them if neccessary so that panel may work! <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

It’s a matter of some MIDI specs available, are there ? is there a document that tells us how to deal with MIDI in Nova, if so attach it here, say pretty please and maybe someone will make a panel. But the sure way the sweeter the way, is do it yourself.

            Hi atom,

To be honest, I only found Ctrlr last night and with no tutorial documentation I don’t really know what it’s capable of  Can it receive and transmit single patches and bulk patches? Basically looking for something that can save my hardware synth settings in Sonar XL and read my synth’s currently selected patch and banks.

If it can do that I’m interested in trying out creating my own panel <img decoding=” title=”Smile” /> Would probably start out with my Roland MC-09 as that’s simpler! I’ve had a look at the JP and A Station panels and have nosed around them. Shame there isn’t a panel already done that I can test with an actual synth I have.

              Hi atom,

Can you confirm whether Ctrlr can receive and transmit single patches or/and bulk patches pls? I can start making some panel then <img decoding=” title=”Wink” />

Ofcourse it can, it can do anything MIDI. It’s a matter of some LUA scripts (depending on the complexity of the dump/request process a lot or just a few lines).

Cool, thanks <img decoding=” title=”Cool” /> I’ll have a go at a Roland MC-09 panel then. Would be nice to be able to see a meaningful display instead of the 09’s cryptic 3 LED numbers!

Here is the manual of the Novation Nova. There is a complete Midi Implementation table starting at page 118:

                    http://www.novationmusic.com/global/download/129/

EDIT: Well, if you look into the midi implementation of Supernova II (Rack), you will see that it has exactly the same implementation. The NRPN table is missing in the Supernova ii manual, I guess Novation never added one and I also guess it’s the same as Nova Desktop:
                    http://www.novationmusic.com/global/download/134/

So, if anybody could port the Supernova II editor to the new Ctrlr version? Where is the panel avaible for download? Is it this version you are talking about:
                    http://code.google.com/p/ctrlr/download … p&can=1&q=

As soon as my Nova Desktop has arrived, I will try the Supernova 2 panel. Maybe it’s better to use the old CTRLR version instead?

EDIT: The Supernova II panel only seems to use CC messages, lots of cool features are missing that need NRPN.

Yet another idea for MIDI implementation. Some bad words come to my head when i read manuals like that, packing up data in ranges of one NRPN, like you can’t use another NRPN that’s why they were invented no to do crazy shit like that. Mother……..$##@$)@$) i’ll need to implement some kind of algorithm not to match modulators when the incoming message is out of range. That should be fun (not really). After that a panel for that will be possible, right now all those modulators with the same NRPN will change their state and they shouldn’t only one should depending on the value of that NRPN not it’s number.

I’m a relative MIDI n00b, but that sounds painful!

I’ll carry on with my MC-09 panel it the mean time. Kinda enjoying making it atm! <img decoding=” title=”Cool” />

                              Hi,

the Supernova 2 panel for old Ctrlr works with the Nova Desktop. Is there a way to convert this panel for the recent Ctrlr version? Maybe it’s a good starting point to develop a panel for the Nova.

                              What do you think?
