      Hi all,
      I’ve spent some time with the recent Ctrlr builds over the last week and have some feedback:
      – the new skin ability and the button bar at the top of the screen are nice improvements. However I’m not sure if it is a good idea to have the button arrangements saved as part of each panel. For example I had a panel with half the buttons missing that every time I wanted to close the panel I had to add the close button back to the panel (I didn’t want to save it during this period). Plus it means that every panel potentially has the buttons in different places. Personally I would prefer the button settings (especially save, close etc) be saved as part of a global Ctrlr settings.xml.
      – using Mac OS standalone build 866 and 833, I had a panel that could not be opened at all (i.e. Ctrlr crashed every time). I managed to fix this by manually deleting these sections from the XML:
      [code:3qc57p87]<luaManagerMethods>
      <luaMethod luaMethodName="myBitFlagMethod" luaMethodValid="0" luaMethodCode=""/>
      </luaManagerMethods>[/code:3qc57p87]

      [code:3qc57p87]
      <uiChildWindow uiChildWindowName="LuaMethodEditor" uiChildWindowState="540 334 600 400"
      uiChildWindowVisible="0">
      <uiChildWindowContentState>
      <ctrlrLuaMethodEditorMethod ctrlrLuaMethodEditorMethodIndex="0" ctrlrLuaMethodEditorMethodProperty="luaModulatorValueChange"
      ctrlrLuaMethodEditorMethodName="myBitFlagMethod"/>
      </uiChildWindowContentState>
      </uiChildWindow>[/code:3qc57p87]
      Plus any references to that LUA method in the panel. I guess the problem was caused because the method had no content (I’m still trying to understand how to use LUA!).

      Finally the forum has lots of references to demo panels (something about a colour change example and midi dumps receiving) but all of the Ctrlr versions I’ve downloaded recently don’t include these demo panels. Am I missing something here?

      Cheers

      David

        As for the buttons on the panel, you are saying save them globally others say save them locally i’m torn (almost like natalie imbruglia) <img decoding=” title=”Smile” />

        As for the example panels you are correct, they are not in the release but they are always available online in the source code repository: http://ctrlrv4.svn.sourceforge.net/view … v4/Panels/
        i think i deleted almost all of them cause i wanted to do some new ones with the new Ctrlr possibilites, i’ll try to cook something up today or tomorrow.

          Well I can think of another way of looking at it as well! For me, some of the toolbar buttons are related to a specific panel (e.g. in/out device, channel, get patch etc) but some of the buttons are more "global" (close, edit save etc). Maybe there could be 2 levels of toolbar? (hope that doesn’t make you even more torn, it’s just a suggestion….)

          Aha so that explains it <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” /> I went through my downloads of the Linux builds and found these files – DEMO – Colours / Graphics /MIDI etc. Maybe you could just tweak these to apply to the latest version because some of the discussions here refer to them a lot?

            i also think there is some mess in how the "global" buttons (copy/paste/close) are organized, e.g. in some panels there is no close button. i guess it is better to standardize things…

              well there is a standard layout for the panel toolbar just enter the customization dialog and click "restore to default set of items" and all the buttons should be there.
