      Hi atom,

I was told by a guy named Brendan that my issues should probably be directed to you. I’m not deep into this kind of stuff (including posting on forums).

Basically, I downloaded the Supernova II editor/librarian from Crayolon, which I understand is based on your programming efforts. I am on Mac OS 10.5.8 and hope to use this program both in stand-alone mode and inside of MOTU’s DP6. So far all I have been able to do is open the program from my desktop, observe the GUI for 3-4 seconds and see it crash. DP6 was not open at the time, so I doubt that this issue is with MOTU’s DAW.

Brendan’s last correspondence with me on the subject follows. Perhaps this will shed a bit more light.

"Mac app crashing – oh dear, that sounds like it might be a critical problem with the entire Ctrlr codebase; something which may have been discussed by other Mac users on the forum or might not yet have been experienced by anyone else… Maybe a recent OS X update has caused the executable to stop working, in which case it’s best that atom knows about it (he doesn’t have a modern Intel Mac of his own, so although he can compile and build Mac binaries from Windows, he relies on the community to test them and let him know whether they work). The VST code is very similar to the exe code, but if the VSTi works in DP6, the fault might just be a tiny flag in the .exe build process – probably easy for atom to fix and redistribute new versions of *everything* <img decoding=” title=”Smile” />

"Finally, just so you know, atom is seriously overhauling the entire thing so that people can easily make their own synth-specific Ctrlrs, even without any programming experience. That new version might not appear for a few months, but in the meantime I’m sure he’ll want to make sure the old (current) Ctrlrs all work. I would have a go at fixing it myself except for two things: firstly all my C++ project settings have been lost following an OS migration and secondly, I’m not a very good programmer at all and had to ask atom for help constantly when making the Supernova Ctrlr <img decoding=” title=”Wink” /> Oh – a third reason is that I don’t have a Mac either, so wouldn’t be able to test it!

"I hope atom can help get you up and running soon; thanks for persevering with it!"

      Thanks for any help.

      Charlie

        That was me, atom <img decoding=” title=”Smile” />

(I *think* you don’t have an Intel Mac; I could be wrong about that, though!)

Yeah, so I’m no longer able to build the existing Supernova project – and even if I could, I doubt I’d be able to figure out how to fix a Mac bug – but I was worried that it might be a fault with *all* the Mac builds. Either way, I hope there’s a solution!
