Hello,
I would like to be able to have elements on one panel that control two multitimbral sound sources of my keyboard.
However, assigning fixed MIDI channels and overwriting is not perfect as when I change the MIDI channels (or other users use it having different configurations), I cannot easily adjust the settings. So I though of
– using two groups for both instruments. => But I cannot assign a "global" MIDI channel to one grou that overwrites the global and individual settings. Is this possible?
– using two Panels => same problem. Is there a way to do this?
A ComboUI would then be used to select those MIDI channels or is this not possible?ON a side note, can I use only one COMBOUI in order to change at the same time IN and OUT channels? => probably some programming needed or is there a simpler way?
Great program and website btw!! Just a small thing: The search does not work for a combination of common words, would it be possible to increase the threshold for "Common Words" (fairly easy in phpbb)??
Cheers

I am new to this forum and discovered it today. Incredible! You guys made my whish nearly completely come true! A really interesting and promising solution it is!Thank you!But I also have the same question the thread-starter has ” title=”Smile” /> :
Is there a possibility to have multiple Midi-channels on one single panel? Especially when I use feature-loaded synths, this would definitely restrict my possibilities. Or just for learning Midi-messages from multiple external sources, but to have them together in one single panel?
Would this be possible for you, to give me the option to alter Midi-Channel, -Message, -Number etc. for each single knob?Your solution really makes me feel euphoric at the moment, because I was looking so long for this.
And: is there a sort of fullscreen-mode? For example by pressing F11 ?
December 26, 2011 at 11:50 am #3431Sorry, I saw that it I can change channels per controller. ” title=”Smile” />
December 26, 2011 at 4:13 pm #3432Yes any controller can have a different midi channel.
December 31, 2011 at 12:33 am #3433Thank you atom,
but now I tried around with an external Midi-Controller (BCR2000) for better understanding. On the one hand I get Midi-Feedback with each modulator, that has an own Midi-Channel which isn’t the same as the one of the panel. But when I turn a knob on the BCR, I don’t receive anything from other channels than the one that is selected in the panel-properties.
For example:
I create one controller (uiSlider):
CC# = 4
Midi-Channel=16
Override Panel Midi-Channel is active.Panel-Properties:
Midi-Channel= 16
Input and Output are set for BCR2000–>Result: the knob only spins, when channel 16 is selected both in the panel- and the modulator-properties at the same time. If the midi-channel for the panel is on another value, the knob won’t receive midi-data from the bcr.
Did I misunderstand or leave out something, or will it not work when I want all assigned knobs to spin, when I have one ore more external devices that are sending messages on different midi-channels?Thank you in advance!
December 31, 2011 at 12:50 am #3434Well this is was never the intention for overriding the midi channel for modulators. Panel gets those midi messages that have the MIDI channel set for that panel (except for Sysex messages, those don’t have a midi channel so all go through). That’s why your knob only moves on the midi channel that the panel has. I’d need to somehow make the panel receive messages for other channel too, it’s possible but will complicate things. Don’t know if it wouldn’t be easier to add it in the LUA space, lua could listen on all devices/channels and pass those messages to modulators.
December 31, 2011 at 12:50 am #3435I forgot to mention, that the midi-feedback/ override works in each case, independent from the midi-channel of the respective modulator.
December 31, 2011 at 1:07 am #3436Hello atom, thank you for your answer!
ok, that means the thing I would like to do with it won’t work at the moment. Besides from learning from incoming midi-messages this would be my superb wish for your great software!
Would that mean, that I could at least try to do the necessary steps with the help of lua?
As I am really an entire noob in programming: what would you recommend me to have a look at in view to go for this?Thank you in advance!
December 31, 2011 at 4:10 pm #3437I think the fastest way and possible the most generic is to add a OMNI option for the MIDI IN CHANNEL, that is to make the panel listen on ALL channels. Expect that to be part of the next nightly build.
