The Loki Costume Is Bound To Be Popular This Year

One of the outfits that will definitely be a hit this year is the Loki costume. It is undeniable that many people are not familiar with this evil character. Personally, I know he’s a cartoon character and he’s now appearing on the big screen but I wasn’t quite sure what he looked like just yet.

Well, once I had a look at Loki himself, I couldn’t resist looking up his costumes. I was pleasantly surprised by the different Loki costumes available. There are actually two looks you might want to choose from when considering wearing a Loki costume.

Loki as Vikings

Loki, in ancient Nordic tales, is generally seen as a villain. He’s a shapeshifter, a trickster and within a few episodes, he’s actually a great help to the other gods. However, everything turned bad when he orchestrated the demise of one of the gods. It’s pretty hard to explain everything else after that, but his clothes are definitely an easier topic.

Loki’s costume, if based on ancient Norse tales, is very similar to the usual clothing worn by Vikings. Usually, there is a jacket worn under all kinds of metal or wooden armour loki addon. Besides the chest pad, they will have leather arm and leg protectors. Fur-lined shoes are more appropriate in this area than sandals worn by Greek and Roman deities, although you may see some fashion groups have the latter on occasion. Since the climate in this region is harsh and cold, expect to see fur-lined ponchos included in the kit as well.

The most important part of Loki’s costume is actually the head gear. Loki’s helmet has two long, curved horns. This is very special and will define the character from a Viking horde.

Loki from Marvel Comic

The characters here are actually the same ones found in Norse mythology. Thor, the god of thunder, is still the hero of the plot while Loki is the antagonist. In fact, they are half-brothers and friends but have become enemies of the other as the plot intensifies. There are other comic book characters (and movie debuting soon) like Odin, but the whole story is very different from the more complex story that the men of the North created centuries ago.

Since this is based on a superhero story, expect Loki to actually wear a jumpsuit – a green and gold jumpsuit, in fact. Harems, armguards, and shoe tops are often included in the set. Of course, a helmet with curved horns will always complement the ensemble.

There is no real problem if you choose the first type of Loki costume or the second type. If you are there to sound as real as Norse history and mythology might ask, then you are obviously better off choosing the more traditional date. However, if you love epic flicks like the ones coming later this year, then the second one is for you.
