I have a pre-release candidate ready, i’d like to post it in binary format but i’d like to know if there is someone out there willing to test it and if so, what sort of OS do you have so i can prepare builds for those platforms (i don’t have the build environment ready for all of them so i’d like to target this as much as possible). Also if you could tell me what sort of MIDI hardware you have to test it with, so that i can polish those features that might be most usable for this hardware (if it’s an old oberheim analog synth i’ll quickly add the planned SysEx features if it’s a DSI synth i’ll double check the NRPN implementation and so on).
Let me know, the fastest i can do is Windows (either 32 or 64bits) standalone app, cause that’s what i use for development.
March 25, 2011 at 4:57 pm #2688Hi atom,
it has been a long time ago since I was in the forum… and now I read: THIS!!
At the moment I’ve to manage some annoing important problems which are time consuming, so I don’t have endless time for beta testing. But anyway, I really like to test v5 for you – and as I know myself I will spend more time with it as I should and my problems allowing. ” title=”Wink” />
If you like: I’m on Mac OSX 10.6.6 (32 bit), at the moment I have a DSI Tetra, Evolver (maybe I will sell soon), and a Virus C. As you can read in the Tetra thread there is a new OS version (1.3) which has many changes in the CC/NRPN messages (but it’s MUCH better than before!) if you need the new parameter list: just tell me and I will contact DSI. In the future I would love to host v5 in Ableton 7 and NI Maschine 1.6, so if you like I can test the VST (or AU) version aswell.
Best!
March 25, 2011 at 5:55 pm #2689well with v5 the manual is not always necessary, but i guess mac and win must be there, i’ll try to setup a mac build today.
I’ll just clean up the SVN repo and SF.net download page before i post the binaries, but it should be this weekend, unless i’ll find some major bug that needs fixing then it might be later. but i hope not. Just need to hook up the Mopho and maybe something else and see how it acts, i’ve been doing all the tests on the MS2000BR so i need to change gear to have some perspective.
March 26, 2011 at 7:22 am #2690I have an Oberheim Matrix 1000 and a Roland Alpha Juno 2 and i run Win 7/32 if you need these tested for basic functions.
March 26, 2011 at 2:33 pm #2691Yeah I’ll be glad to test v5!
March 26, 2011 at 7:27 pm #2692just doing some last fixes, i cleaned the code to make it Linux friendly (i got the release to build and run on Linux/Ubuntu 10.10)
March 26, 2011 at 8:21 pm #2693I can also do some testing.
Mono Evolver Keyb., Blofeld & Drumstation.
Mac with latest Snow Leopard (+ Windows 7 64-bit on my htpc if testing is needed there.)March 27, 2011 at 6:41 am #2694atom – a quick update on my setup: Windows 7 32bit, Renoise and Ableton Live, Access Virus B, Novation Bass Station, Novation X-Station (sold the Nova and the Supernova II).
Of course I’d like to test, and naturally I can’t wait to bring my Virus Ctrlr up to date, so as soon as you’re ready for others to join the Ctrlr dev process, I’ll be waiting!
Btw, I still have my dev notes on the Nova/Supernova Ctrlrs, so although I don’t have the hardware any longer, I might be able to help fix stuff if things go wrong…
March 27, 2011 at 8:18 pm #2695well i found some bugs with the plugin version that make the pre-release unsuable, i’m fixing them right now, give me some more time, it would be silly to post something unusable.
March 27, 2011 at 9:39 pm #2696No problem – take your time.
March 27, 2011 at 10:16 pm #2697I’m keen to help out …
Running OS X 10.6.7, I can test the Sidstation
March 27, 2011 at 10:32 pm #2698Hi, I would like to test it! Win 7 64bit
Here’s my hardware list:

Korg Ex-8000
Korg Dsm-1
Korg DDD-5
Kawai K1M
Kawai R50
Siel Expander 80
Waldorf Xt
Waldorf Blofeld
Mfb 522
Mfb Synth Lite IIMarch 27, 2011 at 10:53 pm #2699Well if you have windows (32 64 does not matter) i uploaded a Win32 build Standalone and VST, however i know that VST versions does not work fully yet.
Try at least to run it tell me if it crashed or something.
32bit linux is up too (ubuntu10.10 based)
March 28, 2011 at 12:36 am #2700Standalone ran and exited smoothly with no crashes (yes, the VST version crashed Live but I expected that;)). I was able to select MIDI devices, but not do much else – looks nice though!
March 28, 2011 at 12:37 am #2701Oh shit, ignore that – I just did New Panel and saw all the fun stuff laid out : D /
atom – forgive me if I’m jumping ahead here, but will I be able to import sections of the source/xml/etc from my v4 Virus editor into this, or will I have to start from scratch when making a v5 editor? I’m successfully sending CC from a slider to my JV-1010 (as it’s nearby) with Edit mode disabled, by the way. Great work!
March 28, 2011 at 8:53 am #2702with LUA inside i guess writing an importer from any format would be simple, for now v4 is incompatible but that might change
March 28, 2011 at 8:40 pm #2703Hi Atom,
Great news there are some builds up. I will try and test Ubuntu on the latest Puredyne and a Windows XP 32 and let you know. In terms of synths, I mainly plan on creating panels for the Midibox synths – FM, SID and so on….David
March 28, 2011 at 8:54 pm #2704Hi.
i have a demo DSI Tetra at home for testing for a while before i decide if i want to buy it (or not).
i found out quickly about the problems related to its editor software from soundtower and other issues.
everything led to ctrlr in the end, i have now also tried V4. a great compliment at this point.i will therefor be happy to help you test V5 alpha something like that !
Mac OSX 10.6.7
DSI TETRA
Standalone App is preffered useMarch 28, 2011 at 9:04 pm #2705k, i’ll try to get the MAC builds soon i’m fixing some basic stuff and Windows and Linux for now cause i have theese systems nearby and i can test with them, once i get those tests done i’ll move to the MAC.
March 29, 2011 at 2:05 pm #2706Hi Atom, first many thanks for your hard work! Do you think it’s possible to implement (if not implemented yet) harware twickable pots?
I would drive the Ctrlr’s with an hardware controller, like a Roland Pcr 300 or a Ni Kore 1. Having a Ctrlr that receives cc’s messages will be useful,
very useful with harware synth.
cheers -
