No worries at all. I can deal with names that don’t make any sense in the meantime. Ultimately I’m hoping to create 32 unique patches and load them all in for my own uses and then simply be done with programming this thing. I’m learning a lot of interesting stuff digging with the FM world.

I did notice another bug though, the Porta Mode data is displayed the opposite from the function sent to the device. So if your thing says Follow it’s really in Retain mode and visa versa. It is consistent with grabbing and sending the data, the display in the Panel editor is just the opposite.

It appears to be very solid and stable right now. I think the Performance mode is working better/correctly too. At least so far.

The program slider doesn’t seem to do anything. It doesn’t react to the device and it doesn’t change what program I’m on.

        Feature request: Rename the patch?

          A few things I’m finding:

The “detune” function does not seem to send/receive properly in the newest version. All the patches show me a value of +7 on the detune for each operator. If I lower them all to 0 (or any value) and then hit the “receive parameters” button the value returns to 7 in the panel. I haven’t tested the instrument with a tuner, but my suspicion is that all the operators for the patch I was working on last night had a value of 0, but the panel wasn’t sending/receiving any correct data for that parameter at all.

I’m also having the “click the receive parameters button twice and get change in settings” bug.

The receive performance parameters button is not grabbing all the correct data either. I can test that more specifically over the weekend, but basically nothing updates in the panel for me.

No, not at all. I’m glad I was able to actually figure out what the issue is.

Now I have to go through some thousands of patches and find the ones that I like to make work well with the breath controller.

At least there are only 32 patches to be stored on the synth, unlike some modern ones with 300+ slots you feel like you have to fill…

Not that value, the “A Mod” setting in Each operator. The slider to the left of the keyboard velocity sensor.

I do mean in the ctrlr panel.

Page 14 of the DX7 manual.

Oh man, I think I just figured it out. The panel has an error. You can’t set a value of 4 to the mod sensitivity on the TX7. it’s 0-3! I’d been testing with values of 0 and 4 to try to get the most extreme effect and hitting my head trying to figure out why I got no difference.

                Value of 3!

                Now I’m getting somewhere.

Ah, I found that spot in the DX7 manual now.

I can’t seem to get the breath controller to actually do anything with those values though. Frustrating….

                    Gotcha.

                    I’ll keep messing with it.

This may be a bit of a noob question (I have a tx81z as well but don’t understand FM synthesis as well as analog subtractive synthesis) but what are the level/rate controls in each voice mapped to? The things aren’t labeled well at least for me, since I don’t really know what I’m doing here.

Sorry if I’m leeching more help than I can provide.

Well that worked easy enough. I had the TX7 set right, but I just needed to power cycle it. Facepalm

It doesn’t grab everything properly for me still. For example, the portamento settings don’t grab properly. Basically it seems like the settings that you can actually adjust from the panel of the TX7 don’t read right on Ctrlr. Not sure if that’s me again or something up with the program.

Can I get current program settings using this panel? I can’t seem to get the “Get patch & performance” button to actually get the current settings on the TX7. Do I need to set the TX7 to something I’m missing?

Any update on program dump? My main point in using ctrlr is that my cheap USB Midi controller is not working with the official editor in Windows, and my good interface doesn’t work in windows at all. Ctrlr will be the answer to all my problems, but I need to be able to dump current settings into the panel.

                            Pretty please? <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />
