Hi. No, Idon’t think you can record MIDI messages (though I also thought about this very cool & eays feature request). But correct me someone if I’m wrong.
But the rest of Ctrlr v5 works as you imagine. Simply select a button, fader, knobs or whatever (there are many variations) choose the MIDI port and channel, the type of message (CC, SysEx, etc.) and create step by step your own plugin! You can also choose backgroud images, font types, font sizes, different colours for each stuff and many more… You can do almost anything individual.
This is simple and makes a lot of fun! ” title=”Cool” />
Yes this looks more simple and very easy to find. I’ve created the first bug report. ” title=”Wink” />
Sorry atom this site is too wierd.
– it doesn’t accept my login data.
– If I want to create a new account it says that my "username is already in use".
– if I choose an othe username it says "User names must be valid domain names, per RFC 1035 section 2.3.1"
– then I have to give my "Work Information"
– the "Number of Employees"
– ……edit:
OK I managed it, but i really would suggest to find an easier way to post bugs.Ohh my god I got it – v5 is dooope! And yes: It was my fault. I overlooked the most obvious thing: Instead of right-mouse-click I was searching for sliders, faders, knobs, etc. in the menus, submenues and subsubmenues… ” title=”Wink” />
The solution to create some stuff was so easy (right click on the empty field) that I didn’t find it. Ctrlr v5 is more than great!!!But I experienced the same bug as in v4. If you automate a parameter in the VST/AU version Ctrlr v5 is crashing the DAW!! I really hope that it’s possible to fix it, because automations is one of the biggest reasons for me to use Ctrlr. Maybe I should registrate an account in the "Trac" for posting bugs… Would be nice if this could be more easy – I think the more easy it is to post bugs the more people will join and help during the beta/alpha phase.
Ahh Ok. So only to be sure that I didn’t missunderstood: The things you wrote about are not possible in the current version? So it’s not possible to control synths yet? And will there be some kind of presets for some common synths like in v4 (this I understood because you’ve asked which synths we own for further tests). Thanks for your answer.
OK, I’ve tested v5 on Mac (OSX 10.6.6). And… I feel totaly stupid – I don’t understand anything, sorry. I thought that I’m a little bit experienced with MIDI (after 14 years music producing), but I don’t get the idea how v5 should work. Ctrlr v4 I understood immediately… Is it possible that you have to be experienced in programming with v5 (I don’t have any skills)?
Did I missunderstood that you’re able to "load" presets for your synths (like in v4 you can choose different presets like: DSI Tetra, Virus, Little Phatty…)? Is this possible and how? I also don’t get the idea how to create your own controller assignments, though I read this: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=500 – but again: I’m too stupid for this. ” title=”Confused” /> Is there somewhere a short "manual/desciption" how to start (for people who don’t speak programmers language)? Sorry for all the questions, but am I alone with this problems?
Btw: The Vst and AU version is crashing my DAWs (Ableton/Maschine) immediately when I click in Ctrlr "LUA/Hooks", "LUA Console", "MIDI Mon", etc. The standalone version does not.
Do we have to create a new account to post bugs in the Trac?
Many thanks atom! I’ll test it soon…
Honestly I’m confused. Is there already a Mac version? Here http://sourceforge.net/projects/ctrlrv4/files/ it’s written that there are different versions for Mac. And also there is written "Totals: 5 Items". But where are the "5 items"? I can only recognise 4 items (win32, win64, Linux64 and Linux32).
No problem – take your time.
Yeah I’ll be glad to test v5!
Hi atom,
it has been a long time ago since I was in the forum… and now I read: THIS!!
At the moment I’ve to manage some annoing important problems which are time consuming, so I don’t have endless time for beta testing. But anyway, I really like to test v5 for you – and as I know myself I will spend more time with it as I should and my problems allowing. ” title=”Wink” />
If you like: I’m on Mac OSX 10.6.6 (32 bit), at the moment I have a DSI Tetra, Evolver (maybe I will sell soon), and a Virus C. As you can read in the Tetra thread there is a new OS version (1.3) which has many changes in the CC/NRPN messages (but it’s MUCH better than before!) if you need the new parameter list: just tell me and I will contact DSI. In the future I would love to host v5 in Ableton 7 and NI Maschine 1.6, so if you like I can test the VST (or AU) version aswell.
Best!
Looks good – thanks for sharing this status report!
In Ableton Live and Maschine it isn’t possible to load a VSTi as a FX (as far I can see). But anyway, if a FX version isn’t too much work and if you feel to do this – it would be really dope!
Hi bmf,
I’m on Mac so I can’t help with specific PC issues. But from my experiences I can tell you that all versions of Ctrlr v4 (Standalone, VST, AU) are crashing very often.
The Standalone versions crashing also in my case when I’m in the menu, particularly when I move the menu window.
The VST versions crashing my host particularly when the parameters are automated.
And the AU versions are crashing my host very quickly, without any reproducible background. But there is a very great glimmer of hope: Atom (the developer) is working on a new version of Ctrlr (v5). And I’m full of confidence that v5 will run much more stable!
Hi Atom,
one question doesn’t go out of my head: Will it also be possible to use Ctrlr v5 as a FX plugin (no VSTi)? Don’t know about the others here, but in my case it would be really cool.
Cheers!
Yes, if v5 will run very rock solid on all platforms (PC/Mac), I wouldn’t have any problems with doing a donation, too.
Yes! If they will run stable – a really big dream of mine will become true!
"if someone can get me the RTAS SDK"
Don’t know what you mean with "SDK", though I’ve no experiences with programming (IF this has somethig to do with this). But besides Ableton I also use PT 7.4 LE. If I can figure out something for you… let me know!
Hi Atom,
It would be really nice to know if you’ve any plans for a Mac OSX version in Ctrlr v5?
Thanks!
The v5 version sounds really good. I’ll be glad to try this out one day! Is Mac also supported in CTRLR v5?
For sure I can help where it’s possible to me. Let us know…
