Thanks Sarah. I’m glad you like it. You do nice work as well.
If you record or draw in an automation envelope/curve then manually change that parameter during playback Live stops reading the automation clip until you hit the punch in button. Live seemed to be confused and stopped reading the clip no mater how many times I turned it back on. I’m not sure if the controller was sending data causing it to turn off or what. It’s strange because the AU works great.
I’ll try it again tomorrow after I’ve had some sleep.Well the latest JX-8P is working in Tiger and mostly playing well with Ableton Live. I was very surprised at how little CPU it uses.
There seems to be a problem with Live not allowing the VST version to playback automated parameters. Live has a kind of effects "punch-in" ability that keeps turning on when playing back automation. The good news is that the AU version is not affected by this.
The only other issue is that every option in the portamento/key mode section doesn’t seem to work. I’ll try it again. I may need to set something up different on the synth.
As soon as I get the battery replaced in my DX-21 I’ll try that one too. You’re welcome. It was fun to design. My first piece of "published" work in almost 10 years.
And thank you for the this great software.Roland JX-8P

I use Live because my machine’s a little slow. Live runs really smooth compared to something like Logic. I also love how easy it is to slice up audio in Live. I can mangle drums and cut loops out of synth parts i would have never bothered with in Logic.
After I switched to Mac I kept an eye on fruity Loops for a while. It was the first piece of music software I used back when it was just a stand alone drum machine. They kept promising but never made a Mac version so I just let it go. I’ll have to take a look and see what I’m missing.Source Forge seems to work well for most. Hopefully the project will find a nice home there.
Itmt here is new version of the Logo with a "drop shadow" on the color elements to help them stand out against the background. It may look a little smoother as well. Oh btw the font I used Is Avant Garde Gothic. It’s a "pay" font but there should be some OK knock-offs floating around the web. Of course Avant Garde my be a little to much to use for the link buttons. No luck with Tracktion3 on Tiger. Tracktion recognizes sysex but not AU format and the vst version doesn’t load. So I was not able to test anything.
Oh, Sorry. I’m using 10.4. I just assume that the 10.5,10.6 versions worked OK.
Alright, So the Vst version doesn’t open in Live. No new Juce vsts has so far. The AU version opens now and I’ve gotten it to send CC and note data but still no sysex. Not sure if this is just Live or the ctrlr because I get the same thing with the standalone. I tested my setup with the Sound Pac editor just to be sure.
If someone who has gotten it to work in Live on a newer Mac OS could give me tips on how to set it up I could test more. I’ve also got a copy of Tracktion3 I can install and test it there.Ah, Gimp. Great software. I’ve been meaning to compare it more with photoshop. Seems like it was better at some tasks.
Yeah, Mac and OS X are at an awkward stage at the moment. I hope to be on the Intel wagon soon.It looks good. Seems to scale OK as well. I’m gonna see if I can make a smaller version look a little smoother.
A Tiger JX-8P would be very cool. It would be great to be able to automate the parameters. I’ve been trying to build one in Xcode but I’m way behind the learning curve. That’s great. There are few in the zip file that don’t use the colors. In the "simple " folder and "fingers" I think.
Let me know if there’s any aliasing problems when it’s scaled. I may have to make a smaller version to fit better.Thanks. I’m still not sure about the colored pins, but overall I think it works.
Atom, if you decide to use it let me know if you need anything done to make it work better for you.Just noticed I could attach a file to the post. Oops ” title=”Wink” />
Here are the PNG files for my logo design. There’s a lot in there but they should cover most situations. I couldn’t send you a PM on this forum for some reason so I just posted them public. Hope that’s OK.
[img:167g40uw]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v668/plasticanimal1/CTRLR_new.jpg[/img:167g40uw]Cool. Let me clean it up a little. I’ll send you the .PNG files soon.
Or maybe something like this?
[img:1h2fpjb3]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v668/plasticanimal1/CTRLR.jpg[/img:1h2fpjb3]Don’t sweet it. PPC’s time is almost up. No one would blame you if this was the last build. Although it’d be nice to see a JX-8P and DX-21 10.4 version that worked considering I just overclocked my G4 ” title=”Wink” />
If you get around to building those I’ll try them again in Ableton Live. TAL-Audio’s Noisemaker gave me a bit of trouble but the AU worked fine after rescanning VSTs from the prefs page.
Anyways, thanks for all the hard work.If they don’t work with .5 and .6 could you give us the code so we could attempt our own 10.4 versions?
