      Atom – what DAW are you running on the mac side? I’m seeing inconsistent stuff for sure.

      I’m on 10.9.4 on my home system and 10.9.3 at work –
      both can create and load the created AU in Logic Pro 10.0.7. The exported instance is labeled the correct name when loading it in Logic – this is the only DAW that’s working this way since the 5.2.54 update. (LogicSeesItRight.jpg)
      (Logic_Sees_it_OK.jpg) <- is the correct screenshot for this At home here on 10.9.4, Digital Performer 8.06 still sees an exported AU instance as Intigator>Ctrlr Mono, Ctrlr Stereo. (DP_AU.jpg)

      I just downloaded the current garageband from the appstore – sees an exported AU instance as Intigator>Ctrlr Stereo. (garageband.jpg)
      After selecting “Ctrlr Stereo” I get a message that I must lower security settings in order to allow Garageband to load the AU, then am prompted with the same message the other guy sees – Audio Unit plugin-in can’t be used, The Audio Unit “Ctrlr-AU”could not be loaded for your project, and may need to be update. Contact the manufacturer for an updated version or further assistance.

      Going back to Logic:
      I can load the AU and set up the MIDI settings as seen in the screenshot just like with the VST however even with the automate toggle set to “touch” I can not seem to record automation from the exported instance. (ctrlr_mfeld_AU_testing.jpg)

      Dang it.. . need to get you a mac that can actually run 10.9. You can download garageband for free, Digital Performer has a 30 day trial on their site. Logic Pro is really pretty cheap. I’m happy to continue testing anything and everything – I own all of these DAWs and a lot more.

      Also – I submitted a few bug reports for the 5.2.23 build. Minor things but would be really great to have fixed if you make a new build and they’re easy fixes.

        Thanks for the new MAC-build. It only works with Mavericks OS-X 10.9.3.
        Exporting the AU instance works, but I can´t open this instance in Logic Express 9 or Garageband.

        This is inconsistent with what I’ve found – I’m on 10.9.3 and the AU works and can be loaded in Logic, at least in Logic Pro – I think if you read my OP it might give you a clue as to what the issue is 🙂

        Go to your Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Component/ folder, remove the ctrlr.component and replace it with your panel’s exported au instance.component. Launch your DAW again. You’ll still see Integator>Ctrlr-AU but it will be your exported instance – this is because the export is *not* renaming the AU’s unique name with the name of the panel you are exporting, the crux of my OP.

          Have you filled all the panel properties (name author, unique identifier ETC ?

          Yes. all filled in, exporting the same to a VST exports correctly so the name of the plugin matches the panel name filled into the properties.
          Here’s an info1.plist from the contents folder of an exported standalone instance, then an infoAU.plist from the AU for comparison.

          Also added a screenshot of the original panel’s properties.

              lo mejor es ver otros paneles para ver cómo funcionan.

                  I see the bit about being able to export AU but i dont see a new mac build? Until Zeoka’s post a bit ago i didnt eve notice the new builds as i was looking at the bottom of the list, following the chronology that you had going… I guess new builds now are now going to the top of the list? Ill try the new builds in windows and linux in a bit. Thank you for them!

                    Thanks atom – I can not load the latest i686 or x86_64 in bitwig or renoise – from the April 16th builds – I thought at first the error was with bitwig – reported the issue on their board..

                    I got the following error in terminal when trying to load the x86_64 ctrlr so file into bitwig:

                    here was their reply:

                    Aah, first thing i noticed, that looks confusing here, but makes sense: BWS tries to launch this VST with the 64-bit host first, this gives an undefined symbol error (i’d say binutils are not correctly built in, here) After failing, it gives the 32 bit host a try – which completely fails out of obvious reasons.

                      My panel behaves differently at startup if I use Ctrlr inside Ableton or if I use a vst instance of the panel.

                      Just a sanity check for you here – I’ve seen this too.. so it is “normal” but i wouldn’t call it desirable.

                      I have seen similar issues – for me it manifests with the “called when panel is loaded” scripts. In my findings (yours seem to differ) – some things in there work, some things do not depending on whether it’s an exported VST from ctrlr or a panel opened in ctrlr within the DAW. PITA as you need to export the VST, trash the panel’s preferences/settings file and restart the DAW with the new exported instance to debug.

                        The “called when the panel has finished loading” script is not being called in exported instances (at least on Win), this has been discussed several times and it’s and old issue, it has never worked for me.

                        I dont know what to say – 1590 triggers the timer and then callback which is initiated from the script I have on “called when the panel has finished loading” – working on both windows and mac exported stand-alone AND VST instances. If that didn’t work I would have not posted how I worked to resolve the issue I was originally posting about here. I tested this until (more of) my hair turned grey. Even the users who had reported the issue have reported it is now resolved in VST instances on Windows.

                        It seems what’s more accurate to say is that some things work within “called when the panel has finished loading” script – some things do not. The timer I put there does work or my workaround would not and I would be getting flooded with complaints from people using the VST on windows – as that was the only place the issue manifested.

                        I hope these details help you with the other issue you’re reporting regarding vst instances etc.

                          ugh lame. I may have a mavericks capable mbp to donate very soon. For the record – ctrlr works fine on mavericks 10.9.3. I honestly have been sticking with ctrlr 1590 as everything in it has worked perfectly for me, besides obviously program manager and snapshots.

                          Seeing that AU export is about to be a reality in the next build I’m sure I’ll be jumping to the latest and greatest builds. I’m really hoping that both the windows, linux and mac builds are equally stable as 1590 which has been rock-fucking-solid w/o fail for me for months and months.

                                so the suggestion didn’t work cross-platform so what I did was a bit more complex but worked, at least for my purpose within an exported instance.

                                I have a simple button (panelLoading) off canvas that’s turned off then a timercallback thats triggered from the “called when panel is loading” script which sets the value to 1 after a few ms.

                                Then the scripts on the “modulators” that for some reason like to fire off on panel load start off like:

                                if panelLoading == 0 then
                                 elseif panelLoading == 1 then

                                	if panel:getBootstrapState() then
                                			return
                                	end

                                --then the actual stuff the button does
                                end

                                This resolved my problem on mac, pc and linux in both VST instances and standalone instances. I know there is a method that is supposed to do this (check if the panel is loading) but for some dumb reason (me?) it never worked for me across the board.

                                  Are mim and enrique the same people here?

                                  T…what I wont to do is send a program change 17 with the on button to say step ON and program change 32 with the off button to say step OFF.

                                  To do that you would simply put the value of the program change in the “button values” property field of the button like so:

                                  Off = 32
                                  On = 17

                                  mim – I would try that, and ignore the fact for now that “Value for on state” etc does not reflect the hardcoded values you’re designating in the button values field.

                                  in ctrlr if you want to assign fixed values (for things like combo boxes or non 1-127 knobs) just use a fixed image slider or combo box with the value name first and the actual value being sent next w/ the = between the two. ..

                                  combobox values might be something like:
                                  off = 0
                                  on = 1
                                  something else = 2

                                  or something like when a knob doesn’t go from 0-127:
                                  0=0
                                  1=16
                                  2=32
                                  3=48
                                  4=64
                                  5=80
                                  6=96
                                  7=112

                                    -So am i correct to not expect the latest linux ctrlr build to be capable of exporting a .so plugin version?

                                    -also remind me please, where does the ctrlrVST.so file go? I put it in usr/lib/LADPSA but renoise isn’t finding it when scanning the plugins folder. The file is chmod’d 777.

                                      cool! the latest linux build worked just fine. I was able to export the restricted instance w/o issue. Ran the resulting file and it works great.

                                        It sounds like you’ve installed the VST properly otherwise you wouldn’t be able to load it in a track – you just put the ctrlr.vst in your user’s ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST folder.

                                        The greyed out menus sounds like the window focus issue. You simply need to click somewhere in the panel’s interface then go back to the menu.

                                        oh by the way since you mention you’re on 10.9.2 you may be asking next “how do I find my users’s Library folder?” Apple in their infinite wisdom has deemed their users too dense to be trusted with the user Library folder (but not the system library folder – GO FIGURE) There are a number of ways to show the user’s Library folder:

                                        In 10.9.x, alt tab to finder, then hold cmd and go to the “go” menu. “Library” will now be an option.

                                        In anything past 10.7x go to finder’s “go” menu (or hit “cmd+shift+g”) and type in the field: ~/Library/ – the “~” designates your user’s home folder.

                                        If you’re not an idiot like Apple assumes you can permanently keep your user’s home folder visible in finder by typing the following in terminal as a root user (or sudo): chflags nohidden ~/Library/

                                        If you want to hide it again change “nohidden” to “hidden”.

                                          Hi Atom –
                                          Is there any news here?

                                          Is there any interim solution or workaround that I can do in the meantime in order to export an AU instance? I have some *very* anxious users awaiting an AU version.

                                          Too bad you took down your paypal donation button so you can get donations for all your hard work! It is greatly appreciated – you already know that from me though I should hope!

                                            The exact code I gave prevents anything within the if statement from running when the button the script is attached to is pressed on any mac version I’ve tried since 1590.

                                            I’ll check it out on a pc when I’m around a PC. Thanks zeoka.
