and, well. since nobody else has replied to all of your questions…
generally speaking, full implementation of Lua in general within Ctrlr would help you connect parameters to/from attributes, within/to/from either hardware synth(s),vst or DAW(depending on which one), plus more in ways you might have never thought previously possible.

        +1

It seems LUA is not currently enabled in ctrlr but I agree it would be great when it is implemented to supply a simple demonstration ctrlr panel that shows what it can be used to do within ctrlr… also would be great to know it’s limitations within ctrlr so we don’t go chasing down a rabbit hole.

whew. whatever you did in the 495 rev resolved this issue here.
my bpanelz is now only 750kb as it should be!
          thanks!!!

            ahhh the joys of windows.

what windows version are you using?

            32 or 64 bit ctrlr?
renoise is only 32 bit on windows so I’m downloading the 32 bit ctrlr version… I’ll bet that was my issue..

Im on the latest and greatest renoise so if that’s not it Ill be seriously scratching my head here.

I usually use renoise on osx or linux myself, but since ctrlr is being devd in windows I figured I’d stay on the same page…

at least in my case it’s not the resources that are that big… it’s the exported player… again my[b:3qism7nl] image resources and panel xml together are barely 1 mb in file size[/b:3qism7nl].

i’m not asking why it takes so long to close. i’m asking why the panel file is 280 mb when the panel xml and image resources together are under 2mb.

I was as brief as possible while walking you through what’s going on, but i think you should follow if you go back and read the whole thread – maybe i gave you too much information <img decoding=” title=”Smile” />

you don’t really want the 280mb exported player file, do you? I’m more than happy to share my XML and image resources for you to test. How can I find you on IRC?

and for what it’s worth, after exporting this giant bpanelz ctlr takes about 3 mins to close, somewhere around the same to open…. presumably because it’s now referencing this ginormous bpanelz file..

do i have bad xml? I dont think so cause this only happens after trying to export a bpanelz or exe, doesn’t occur when working from just a bin or xml file.

just to confirm, and update this thread…
I cleared out the /Users/<myname>/AppData/Roaming/Ctrlr folder (actually just renamed it), opened ctrlr w/ a shift+R (even tho there was nothing to clear, just for good measure), opened my ctrlr xml, reimported all my resources into ctrlr, saved the xml, closed then re-opened ctrlr (with no issue or lag at all), then exported again a player file for this panel and yet again the player is 281MB. . .

I just wrapped up a series of updates to this panel, It’s a fully functional beast!

I’m thinking it should be possible with mutli messages attached to a program change knob who’s last message is a syesx patch/sound/program request from the hardware synth (the message would be different for every synth)… but I’m wondering then if all knobs and sliders, combo boxes and buttons would have to be set to be sending sysex (and receiving… not sure if ctrlr modulators actually can receive messages currently?), not ccs…

                        why I titled this a brainstorm <img decoding=” title=”Razz” />

One point to make regarding minimalist’s comments regarding a horizontally vs vertically stacked slider – it’s a lot easier to preview sliders/wheels desinged within knobman that are horizontally stitched. I agree it’s not -necessary- for ctrlr to accept horizontally stiched wheels/sliders but it wouldn’t hurt… still not very hard to change how sliders are output out of knobman, so we’ll live either way

Ok buttons stay visible as of the 479 rev when you set the value to "NoValue".

I got the multistate buttons i always wanted (btw you must uncheck "button is a toggle button" for these to cycle through more than two values.

this is great! your responsiveness to suggestions and bug reports is astounding, atom. Thank you!

for any uiImageButtons – when the value display is set to "no value" the button disappears. all of my pre 475 panels had their value placement set to "no value" which did exactly that – display the button, but no value. now since 475 when I set the value display property to "no value" the button vanishes.

ok… quickly the workaround I found for this button issue is to keep the value set to value on left, set the "button text width rectangle" and "button text height rectangle to 0. . . still for sure setting the value to not visible also turns off visibility for the button.

ok regarding uiSliders… what about buttons? how can one prevent buttons from vanishing when the value is set to off? Maybe you could test with the 1.97 beta for the xt controller I posted yesterday if you’re not seeing what I’m seeing…

                                    buttons have:
                                    Resource image width
                                    Resource image height
                                    Component Position and Size
                                    Frame width
                                    Frame height

I have all of the above set to the height / width of one frame of my 2 frame on/off button.
the graphic does not show at all.

If I turn on the value visibility and scale the corners of the button out I see the image, but I do not want value text.

you’re right.. even spaces. I wasn’t expecting that so i was camel casing my unique names.

Quick question, is it necessary to give modulators a visible name if you have the visible name hidden? I would assume not but wanted to check. … right now they’re all "modulator-1"

I still would like to be able to some day down the road be able to output only predesignated modulator changes to this uiLabel as opposed to the most recently tweaked modulator.

Still this is awesome and has breathed new life into this panel!! I’m especially digging that the value is being displayed in binary AND hex. nice work.

Ok, so at least here, with the panel I’ve been working with, running the latest ctlr update 475 x64 on win7 x64….

uiImageButtons vanish when you turn off the value display "NoValue"

all of my buttons are gone from the xt panel I’ve been deving… I have the value visibiltity for all my buttons turned off.

uiImageButtons and uiImageSliders are indeed totally fubared, doesn’t matter if it’s a new panel created in 475 or if you’re opening an old panel.

I submitted a bug report for this, I dunno… maybe it’s just me experiencing this?
